From a total of more than 8000 wines tasted for the 2023 Wine Companion, we are delighted that two Baileys of Glenrowan fortified wines achieved gold (a score of 95 or above); The Winemaker’s Selection Rare Old Topaque and The Winemaker’s Selection Rare Old Muscat.
This limited edition and ultra-premium range is the epitome of wine royalty. The wines sit within the “rare” classification of fortified wines and are the perfect illustration of all that is great about the wines of North Eastern Victoria.

Baileys of Glenrowan Winemaker’s Selection Rare Old Topaque
“Topaque at the top of its game, exquisitely crafted, bringing a number of elements together – age, luscious intensity and concentration, sympathetic spirit – that remains quintessentially hedonistic. That's the thing with the Rare classification, it indulges emotionally. Mahogany walnut in colour, it brings aromatic florals in concert with dried fruits, chocolate, butterscotch, fruitcake, burnt butter and more. Lives long in the mouth and the memory.”

“The late, great Harry Tinson helped lay some of the foundations for a fine fortified library at Baileys that today's winemaker, Paul Dahlenburg, now draws upon. This is a taste of that history, of walnut and plum pudding, honey and raisin, dried fruits and treacle, chocolate and grilled and so much more, wrapped in fresh, clean spirit. A wine to get lost in.”
